Events Conducted by Competitive Examination Cell


Competitive Exam Cell organized Book Exhibition from 29th Dec 2018 to 2nd Jan 2019. Exhibition was held to create awareness among students towards scope of Engineering in Civil Services and other competitive Exams. The Exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Sunil S Admuthe, Director, ICEM, with HoDs, senior faculty members and library staffs. The Book Exhibition provided a platform for students as well as faculties to go through more than 150 different titles. Along with the books, syllabus for different exams like GATE, GMAT, CAT, Civil Services Examination, Indian Economics, Service Examination, Combined Defense Services Examination, Engineering Services Examinations and staff Selection for different Cadres etc. was displayed at the exhibition. Nearly 200 students of First year to final year (all branches) witnessed book exhibition with great enthusiasm and interest.


Competitive Exam Cell organized an expert guest lecture on “Awareness about Competitive Exams and Higher Studies” on 09th Oct. 2018 conducted by Mr. Satyajeet Sahoo Sir who completed his B.Tech in Civil Engineering and M.Tech in Structural Engineering both from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. He was selected in IOCL, HPCL, DMRC, RITES, MECON through GATE. He was Design Manager at Delhi Metro Rail Corporation LTD, New Delhi. Now he is an expert lecturer in ACE academy and teaching Civil Engineering for GATE/ESE in 12 cities and over 3000 students.

Sir introduced to GATE, ESE and PSUs as a career opportunities with an effective PPT presentation. He discuss the Syllabus, Time table, opportunities through GATE Exams for further educations and jobs. He also explained government scholarships and stipends for post graduations. He enlisted the PSUs who recruits students through GATE according to branches of engineering. Also introduced and briefly explained about MPSC & UPSC exams. Gave sample questions from gate exam papers to build students willpower. The overall session was imactive and energetic. Students get a lot information about further scope. The strength of students was about 180+ from all department. It was a satisfactory session according to students.


Competitive Exam Cell organized an expert guest lecture on “Engineering Mathematics for GATE Preparations” on 10th Jan. 2018 conducted by Mr. Sujeet Paliwar who is Director of Sujeet Paliwar’s Maths Academy. He has about 10 years teaching experience of teaching Engineering Mathematic and Basic Electrical Engineering subjects. He also teach mathematics to 11th and 12th Science students. Sir introduced to GATE syllabus of Engineering Mathematics for all branches. Through his lecture he covered topics linear algebra, matrices, differential integral, probability and differential calcus. He also took some practical examples to build student’s confidence about mathematics. Students from all branches took advantage of this session.


GATE online mock test was conducted in 1st and 2nd week of February for all engineering branches. The purpose of arranging this test is to give practice and awareness to students to face GATE exam. This mock test was conducted in each department by CEC members of respective departments. About 80% of GATE appeared students attended this test in give slot. The response of students was highly positive. Students understant the rules and regulations of GATE exams. Also attempted maximum number of question for practice.
