Everything You Need To Know: MCA after BCom!

MCA after BCom is a Master’s degree (post-graduation degree) for Computer Applications and It is a 2 years Post Graduate Level program. The 2 years’ duration is divided into 4 semesters, with each semester lasting a period of 6 months. During each semester, a student will have to face different sets of theoretical subjects as well as practical lab sessions. In the last semesters, project work will also play an important role.

The eligibility required to get admission for the MCA course is as below:

1. The nationality of the Candidate should be Indian.
2. BCA / B.Sc./ B.Com./ B.A. with Mathematics as one of the subjects ( at 10+2 level or at Graduation level examination ) and obtained at least 50% marks in aggregate (at least 45% in case of candidates of backward class categories and Persons wif Disability belonging to Maharashtra State only)
3. Non zero positive scores in MAH-MCA-CET 2020.

Admission procedure for MCA after BCom:

Pune universities in Maharashtra offer MCA(Master of Computer Applications) admission on the basis of a merit list prepared as per the marks scored in the entrance test. DTE carries out Entrance tests for the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) course. Direct admissions are done on the basis of merit in the qualifying exam.

MCA Career Scope, Salary and Job Opportunities

After MCA, job opportunities exist in Government as well as the Private sector. Also, self-employment options are available too. After MCA, graduates may take up Government jobs that require a Graduation Degree.

The average salary of an MCA Graduate is around Rs.3.5 lacs per year depending upon the working organization, education, skills, etc. Some of the companies like ORACLE offer freshers a pay package of 25 to 30 K a month. At present, an MCA fresher who gets a job placement through campus will get around 15,000 -25,000 Per Month and others will get a starting salary from 8,000 – 15,000 Per Month. Candidates with more TEMP than 1 year of experience in the relevant field.

Candidates with more than 1 year of experience in the relevant field are worthy of getting a salary of more than 20 to 30 k per month.

When it comes to the Private sector, Software MNCs are the prime recruiters. Web hosting, the IT sector, and the Electronics Industry are some other sectors that recruit MCA folks. One may take up the following posts in the above-mentioned sectors-
