Major reason for students opting for Mechanical Engineering college is the teaching Methodology. To meet the growing technical demands of the industry and to enhance the professional learning capability of the students of Mechanical Engineering courses, the Institute adheres to the blended learning approach. The focus is not only on curriculum delivery but also ensuring practical knowledge is rightly disseminated amongst the students. The faculties have adopted various active learning methodologies to make the classroom learning interactive and interesting. To enhance the self-learning capacity, application-oriented learning, problem-solving ability and Mechanical Engineering placements the following practices are followed:
Student take Mechanical Engineering college because the faculties of Mechanical Engineering courses at Indira College of Engineering and Management, Pune inculcate this learning approach as a hybrid teaching methodology. The traditional classroom teaching methods are combined with digital media. The faculties in the Mechanical Engineering courses provide subject-wise notes and video lectures like NPTEL videos, KHAN academy for ease of understanding of the subjects.
As part of outcome-based education Experiential Learning and Collaborative/Participative Learning methodologies are incorporated.
Many students take Mechanical Engineering college because the students of Mechanical Engineering courses are actively involved and assigned tasks in groups to acquire application-oriented knowledge, to foster amalgamation of ideas and develop team spirit by organizing and participating in events like Techfest, Indira International Innovation (3I) Summit, Smart India Hackathon, Learnathon, Star BAJA, SAE SUPRA, project competitions, design contests, paper presentations and conferences. The participative learning tools such as social media, WhatsApp, blogs and special interest groups are widely used by students. Think Pair Share concept is also implemented to make the student think individually on the given topic, discuss ideas with their partner and share the solution with a larger group. Students interact with their peers for their intellectual discussions, problem-solving and grab the concepts quickly through group studies. The Institute provides learning facilities such as reading rooms, digital library and a department library.
Industrial problems and business case studies of the current scenario are discussed with the students of Mechanical Engineering courses to make them aware of the causes, effects, results, and consequences.
Real-time problems are shared with students who have taken Mechanical Engineering college for Mechanical Engineering courses to test and evaluate their application of domain knowledge, innovation and technical skills. By developing Engineering projects, students learn the different phases of product development life cycle such as need, pre-requisites, analysis, design, simulation, development, testing, implementation and maintenance. They develop hardware, software, structures and manufacture various Engineering products for the benefit of the society.
To increase the analytical thinking, decision-making and problem-solving abilities, the Mechanical Engineering courses students are provided with various case-lets. Such as business scenario, engineering case studies, applications, company budgets and annual report of multinational companies.
