Mechanical Engineering

About Department

Marsh Faber defines engineering as “finding simple, elegant solutions to problems.” Mechanical engineering is a diverse area that brings many disciplines of engineering together The Mechanical Engineering profession goes beyond designing machinery. Mechanical Engineers also creates sophisticated computer control robots, design ships & aircraft, design plants & specialized devices for disabled people, study fluid flow patterns, develop advance technology to protect environment,& more. Many innovations crucial to our future will have their roots in the world of mass, motion, forces & energy-the world of Mechanical engineers.

Mechanical Sandwich:

The Department of Mechanical Engineering has started an innovative, industrially oriented undergraduate program in ‘Mechanical Sandwich’ in the year 2013, which provides hands on training along with academic curriculum. The syllabi for this program have been framed with a view to impart sound practical knowledge and industrial skills to help the students in their professional career and entrepreneurial. Out of four year degree program the student spends one year in industry and gets exposure to various industrial practices and manufacturing processes.

According to one proverb “Tell me and I will forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I will understand”. The sandwich programme works and entirely on this philosophy.

Why Sandwich Program:

  • To introduce the students to industrial practices.
  • To develop ability to identify industrial problems and build capacities to solve them.
  • To impart hands on training in the areas of manufacturing, assembly, quality control and maintenance.
  • To create awareness on safety, housekeeping and plant engineering.
  • Make them understand the importance of teamwork.
  • Interdependence of different departments and methods of documentation.
  • Build self-confidence.
Objectives of department:
  • To evolve as a center of excellence in offering impeccable and market savvy graduates to emerge as total solution providers.
  • To commence various training programs to prepare the students as an industry ready engineer, to cater the urgent need of the industries.
  • To improvise the research activities within the department.
